The increasing verticalization of Venture Capital investments in business analytics is directly relevant to IBM’s analytics solutions and roadmap. IBM’s relationship with Hummer Winblad and early access to SignalDemand’s predictive analytics capability is a great example of working with an innovative venture-backed company to align them with the IBM industry strategy and operationalize the execution of the partnership.
Overall sales of video-game consoles, accessories and software at physical stores in the U.S. were flat across the industry in November, rising 0.4 percent to $3 billion, according to data released by NPD. Through its Smarter Cities initiative, IBM helps cities and governments serve citizens better by adopting more intelligent and efficient ways to analyze data, anticipate problems and coordinate resources. IDC Government Insights estimates the new Smarter Cities information technology opportunity at $34 billion in 2011, increasing more than 18 percent per year to $57 billion by 2014.
The supercomputer will be shared by three departments of the Slovak Academy of Science (Computer Center, IT Institute in Bratislava and Institute of Experimental Physics in Kosice) and a consortium of four major universities (Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava, Zilina University, Matej Bel University in Banska Bystrica and Technical University in Kosice).
